FIRMWARE UPDATES
Ensure the camera is connected to a constant power source during the update process. Failure to do so could result in your unit becoming non-functional. Your vehicles cigarette lighter socket or a household outlet work best
Using the Drive Smarter App
- • Power up your camera by connecting to constant power source such as your vehicles CLA adapter or a household outlet.
- • When you Connect your camera, the app will check if a newer firmware update is available on the server.
- • Press ‘Download’ on the notification to download the latest Firmware.
- • Follow the instructions on the Drive Smarter Mobile Application. If successful, the camera’s LED’s will begin blinking while the firmware is being installed.
- • To check that the Firmware update was successful, you can check the ‘About’ screen in your camera’s settings menu

Why am I having
trouble connecting the camera in Drive Smarter?
Attempt restarting the dash cam (wait 30 seconds before powering back on) and attempt connection again. In parallel, restart the Drive Smarter app and attempt to connect again.
NOTE: Please ensure you have Bluetooth enabled on your phone.
How do I connect my camera via Wi-Fi?
You do not need to manually establish a Wi-Fi connection to your dash cam. Drive Smarter uses Bluetooth to automatically manage connection types depending on which feature you are using within the app. Simply use the Drive Smarter app to access gallery view or live view.
How do I enable
Parking Mode Protection?
For Parking Mode protection the camera needs to be hardwired to the vehicle’s battery using our hardwire kit in order to provide constant power to the dash cam (part numbers 0010070-01 for OBDII port or 0010073-01 for fuse box).
How do I view my camera’s feed remotely?
In order to use the Parking Live View feature the camera needs to be connected to the internet via in-vehicle WiFi, an in-car adapter, or another form of internet connection within range of the camera. Please connect your dash cam to your desired internet connection using the Drive Smarter app and the camera connect to it automatically in the future.
When the camera is on (being driven or has been turned on by detecting an incident during parking mode) the account holder can view the camera’s feed using the Drive Smarter app or by visiting Drivesmarter.com to use the web portal.

How do I get radar, speed camera, red-light camera alerts on my camera?
Simply connect your dash cam to the Drive Smarter app and our connected network of alerts will be pushed to the dash cam when a threat is nearby. The Drive Smarter app will connect to the dash cam automatically after first connection when Bluetooth is enabled. Ensure that Real-Time Driver Alerts setting is enabled on the dash cam.
